Scope and Content Hartzog began creating this scrapbook in the 1940s. It contains Hartzog's memoirs and a variety of printed material documenting his career in education. Hartzog included material related to his family history and local history in Bamberg, South Carolina. There are copies of letters and recollections of events during the Civil War, particularly of the siege of Fort Sumter and Sherman's March.
